A timely update, for once.

Back on the Monday update wagon. Here's a photograph of a piece in progress, which demonstrates part of my process.

The first thing I do is put down silver leaf in the shape that I want and then enamel over it. You can see the silver leaf in the feet of the lizard on left.

Secondly, I cover the silver leaf with color, if I want color, and then fire it again. You can see where I've started to uncover the blue on the bottom lizard.

Next, I cover all the silver leaf and color with either china paint or ceramic underglaze. You can see that in the blacked out lizards.

Lastly, I scratch through the black to reveal the color or silver leaf. You can see this where I've started to define the blue lizard at the bottom.

Hopefully, next week I'll have pictures of the finished piece, as well as the second lizard piece that I mentioned last week.
