So, first, I'm working on another fish, but I've switched to chasing in silver, and, as a result, this one is a lot smaller. The less awesome result is that for quick work in progress photos like this one, the glare from my camera is incredible and completely washes out everything but the details. So I had to edit the exposure using the wonders of modern technology. The piece is currently bright silver, but eventually the finish will look more like the photo, since I intend to oxidize it.

Second, I'm making a tea infuser. I've been working on designs for it for quite a while now (by which I mean a month or two) and finally settled on one. So, here's my mock-up, which I used the figure out the pattern the metal needed to be cut into. (The paper it's made from is an old Rio Grande catalog, which makes me feel not at all guilty about making a million different mock-ups, since I'd otherwise have just thrown it out.)

Here are the unfolded shapes that make up the two halves. I've cut them out in silver here, and after this picture was taken I filed grooves into the fold lines and then bent and soldered it together. The two halves will be hinged together and attached to a handle, and the smaller openings will be covered with silver mesh.

The next update should definitely have another rendering, possibly two if I get my act together.
