Feathers!

So I haven't posted any pieces in a while, in part because I've been mulling over a lot of ideas.  (Too many, maybe?)  But I'm finally working on a couple of pieces along with accompanying texts.  Since they're all in fairly nebulous stages so far, I'm just going to give you a little teaser photo.

It's been a pretty epic piece so far, just because I've been working with a lot of materials I don't normally use at all.  A real learning experience.  But I think it's finally starting to come together, and I'm getting excited about the progress I'm making.  Now, the real question I'm grappling with is whether or not to include some silver and chasing, and I'd really like to, but I need to do a lot of sketches to see if it'll work out or not.

On the other hand, I've also got some projects in mind that definitely require chasing, so I'm looking forward to getting started on those as well.  (Also, some carving!)

I'm actually attempting to work on a theme for these pieces I have in mind, and I'm not entirely sure how that's working out so far.  I'm a little concerned about the fact that I'm jumping around between a lot of media, but I'm hoping that it makes sense when I get more of the pieces out of my head and into the world.
