Week Twenty-nine

So this week I've been still working on those bead and resin samples.  But I think I've finally struck on something that's pretty interesting.  Compare.

Admittedly, the photos are stellar, but these are two different finishes for the resins.  I couldn't quite figure out why the resin wasn't working for me over the beads for so long.  In part, it flattens them out.  But what finally occurred to me today was the resin made the beads GLOSSY.  (Obviously.)  I hate glossy seed beads.  You can't tell when they're covered in resin, but all of my beads are either matte finish or luster finish, not glossy.

So I sanded down the resin, and the surface is so much more compelling.  It's got some depth back, and some mystery, and a lushness that the resin was taking away.  Could be exactly what I'm looking for.
