Progress Report

Haven't got any new finished projects to post about, so I figured I'd post an update about a couple of pieces I'm currently working on. One of the things I've been thinking about lately is the jewelry format, and how training in jewelry before learning how to enamel kind of made my enamels into jewelry by default. So I've been trying to break away from making only enameled jewelry, and the first piece of that kind that I envisioned is a wall piece.

I've only begun working on the central panel so far. I'm working through an attempt to create a matte finish on the black background, and encountering obstacles. Since I'll have the same problems with the other panels, I've decided to try to solve them on this panel before I start the others. This is an in process shot of the central panel; when it's finished, the black will hopefully be matte, and there will be more green leaves.

I'm rather fond of my test sample for the black matte enamels (although it didn't manage to forestall all of the problems I later encountered.) I'll probably set this one in a simple setting and do another variation of the enamel as a neckpiece.
