Mace Publication

Last year I had the opportunity to be involved with a tremendous undertaking. I and seven other metals students at the University of the Arts made a mace. It ate our lives- we devoted Wednesdays, Friday nights, weekends, and finally, winter break to this mace. It was an uphill battle, and no one knew when we might finish. And then, one day, we were done. Months of work came to fruition, and we celebrated.

Later, last May, we flew to L.A. and presented the mace to the Colburn School, the conservatory that had commissioned it. We celebrated again. Sometime, they told us, they'd put out a publication about the mace, along with the history our school had with other maces, and our struggle to see it made. Last week, we finally saw that publication. These are scans of the cover and some inside pages. Part of the mace is featured on the front.
