Progress on All Fronts!

For the past two months, I've been keeping time cards.  Last month I even divided it up by project, so I'd know how long everything took when I finished.  I'm a bit over a week into this month, and it's been the best start I've had so far.

If you've even glanced at the last two entries I've posted, you'll already know that I've had beads on the brain lately.  I took the plunge and decided to go ahead and order some seed beads from Fire Mountain Gems, which was a rather terrifying thing.  They arrived Wednesday, unbeknownst to us all, since the mail carrier left them on the front step, and we only ever use the back door of the house.  But Friday morning I was excited to get a (slightly damp from the dew) box full of goodies.  Mostly seed beads, but a few other odds and ends I thought might be useful or interesting to work with.  I decided that it was time to break in my felt forms, and went to work.

One of the things that I've discovered is that part of what turned me off seed beads is texture.  When I went to order my beads, I discovered that there was a whole side to seed beads I'd missed out on the last time I used them.  (I was thirteen, and I blame both my lack of perception--and possibly taste--and the general stocking principals of craft stores at the time.)  Namely, matte finish.  At which point I got tremendously excited and ordered nearly all matte beads.  I got both opaque and transparent, mostly in shades of beige.  (There's an excellent reason for this color choice, but explaining it yet would ruin the surprise.)  I did order one vial of beads that wasn't matte.  They ended up shoved to the side, entirely rejected in favor of the matte beads.  (Exactly one of these beads went into the finished piece, because I decided it wasn't worth taking it out.  If you buy this piece when I finish it, you get a hearty congratulations if you can find that one non-matte bead.)

So here's a sneak peek at part of the bracelet.  It has a ton of work to go so far, and I have no idea if I'll love it or hate it when it's finished, but I'm looking forward to finding out how it turns out!
